About Us
MMS Culture

Our care of the children should be governed not by the desire to 'make them learn things', but by the endeavor always to keep burning within them the light which is called intelligence.
-Dr. Maria Montessori
The Maria Montessori School Culture
At MMS, we use the child’s curiosity and excitement to help him or her discover the world, learn to solve problems, and gain confidence, independence and pride. Our prepared environment lets the child be involved and challenged by the things around them.
In our classrooms and methods, everything is geared to the child’s needs. The children develop a community life through their sense of ownership and pride. Along with socialization, they develop an awareness of and sensitivity to each other on a daily basis. Our organized and stimulating classrooms possess an atmosphere of warmth and relaxation which invites a child’s participation and self-development.
MMS teachers are keen observers and are always alert to the subtle changes in a child’s progress or mood. Our Directress’s and Educational Assistant’s roles are not to criticize or interfere with a child’s work, but to facilitate and properly guide them into the skills that will help them develop.
At Maria Montessori School, we guide the children’s learning through age appropriate activities, unique Montessori methods and materials that will challenge and develop their abilities. Dr. Montessori's method recognizes "sensitive periods" in a child when they can absorb information from an enriched hands-on environment provided to them. Each child develops within predictable phases that our experienced Montessori Certified Directresses are trained to recognize and manage.
