Dear Parents,

At Maria Montessori Pre-School and Elementary, Inc. (MMS) in Saskatoon, we are proud to offer an education based on timeless Montessori principles, which have become more and more relevant in our ever-changing world. We believe that each student should develop higher level problem-solving skills and be able to apply such knowledge to make the most of their opportunities. Students are encouraged to make sound choices that generate positive outcomes. At Maria Montessori School in Saskatoon, we are dedicated to respecting each child’s value, while guiding them to reach their highest intellectual, emotional and social potential.

Students, families and staff at MMS have had a very successful year. We continue to grow, but more importantly, we have enhanced our programs both academically and socially. We hope you agree that MMS is an outstanding educational choice for Saskatoon and area families!

Within the 2009-2010 school year, we have successfully:

• Opened an additional Casa classroom
• Moved Lower Elementary to a bright and spacious new room
• Added a library/resource room
• Introduced several after school enrichment programs (Drama, Spanish, Parent and Child Art, Move and Groove, Fit Kids, etc.)
• Enhanced our literacy component
• Participated in the International Montessori Council conference
• Allocated “State of the art” 23” touch screen computers in each classroom
• Renewed the face of our website www.montessorisaskatoon.ca
• Implemented an integrated a Montessori art program for all students
• Participated in a University of Saskatchewan Huskies cross country track meet

As you can tell, we have had a busy year, and we’re not done yet! Plans are well underway to open a second Lower Elementary classroom for the 2010-2011 school year. We continue to work diligently to provide the best education for all of our children.
